Chapter 282 Don’t underestimate
“Brother Wenyuan! The shield above us—it’s cracking!”
The hulking middle-aged rogue cultivator had a terrifying strength that exceeded all
expectations. Despite only being at the sixth level of the Embryo Breath Stage, his relentless
punches had managed to crack the protective barrier formed by the Shield Light Talismans, a
barrier meant to withstand attacks from someone at the seventh level of the Embryo Breath
Stage.
Yun Wenxin, noticing the faint fractures spreading across the shield above her, screamed in
panic.
“Stop shouting! I see it!”
Yun Wenyuan leapt several meters into the air, swiftly tossing another Shield Light Talisman
onto the barrier.
With the addition of the new talisman, the cracks in the shield began to mend rapidly.
“Wenxin! To your side!”
As Yun Wenyuan landed back on the ground, he noticed more cracks forming near Yun
Wenxin’s position. He yelled urgently.
Reacting quickly, Yun Wenxin hurled another Shield Light Talisman at the weakening barrier,
sealing the fractures just in time.
Inside the barrier, Yun Wenli and the other spiritual-rooted members scrambled to patch up any
cracks, frantically tossing out talismans to keep the shield intact.
The young clan members worked together tirelessly, their coordination and vigilance preventing
the barrier from shattering, even as the hulking rogue cultivator outside struck it with the ferocity
of a raging beast.
“These Yun clan brats are far too stubborn!”
The rogue cultivator growled in frustration as his relentless attacks failed to breach the barrier.
But his eyes gleamed with cold determination.
“You think this shield will keep you safe? Think again!”
Just as he prepared to unleash his most powerful Daoist technique to shatter the barrier in one
devastating blow, a sharp whistle cut through the air.
An arrow streaked toward him like a bolt of lightning.
Startled, the rogue cultivator reached out and caught the arrow mid-flight, his hand gripping it
tightly.
His gaze shifted toward the barrier, spotting Yun Wenlong holding a spiritual longbow.
“At the peak of the fifth level of the Embryo Breath Stage, and you think this will kill me?” the
rogue cultivator sneered, his confidence unshaken.
However, before he could gloat any further, the arrow in his hand exploded.
A Thorn Talisman hidden within the arrow activated, fueled by the arrow’s spiritual energy.
Thick, arm-sized vines erupted from the talisman, snaking around the rogue cultivator and
binding him tightly.
The thorns dug into his flesh, piercing deep and sending waves of pain through his body.
But that wasn’t the worst of it. The thorns carried a potent venom capable of paralyzing even
Embryo Breath Stage cultivators.
In an instant, the rogue cultivator’s body stiffened, his movements sluggish. He felt as though he
had been plunged into an icy abyss, his limbs refusing to obey his commands.
“A Thorn Talisman can only restrain a sixth-level cultivator briefly. Brother Wenlong, now’s the
time!”
Yun Wenshan’s urgent voice cut through the tension.
Yun Wenlong didn’t hesitate. Drawing another arrow, he nocked it onto his longbow. This time,
the arrow carried a Fireball Talisman.
He released the arrow with precision, aiming directly at the immobilized rogue cultivator.
Boom!
The arrow struck its target, and the talisman detonated upon impact.
A roaring explosion engulfed the rogue cultivator, flames surging in every direction.
The sheer force of the blast caused the ground to quake violently, cracks spiderwebbing
outward from the point of impact.
As the flames and heat waves dissipated, the training ground fell eerily silent.
The hulking rogue cultivator’s body lay charred and lifeless on the ground, his massive frame
reduced to a burnt husk.
“Yes! You did it, Brother Wenlong!”
Yun Wenshan and Yun Wenfeng cheered, their faces lighting up with joy.
Inside the barrier, Yun Wenyuan, Yun Wenxin, and the other spiritual-rooted clan members
celebrated, their spirits lifted by the victory.
“That fool… killed by a bunch of kids,” muttered another rogue cultivator with a shadowy face,
retreating slightly as he stared at his fallen comrade in disbelief.
“You think now’s the time to worry about that?”
Before the shadowy rogue cultivator could react, a cold voice whispered in his ear.
His body froze as chills ran down his spine.
Turning his head slightly, he saw Yun Wenyu standing right behind him, her spiritual sword
gleaming with a deadly light.
The rogue cultivator tried to defend himself, but before he could lift a finger, Yun Wenyu’s blade
flashed.
Schlick!
The sharp sound of a blade slicing through flesh echoed through the battlefield. The shadowy
rogue cultivator’s head flew into the air, severed cleanly by Yun Wenyu’s sword.
“Good work, Wenlong and the others,” Yun Wenyu remarked with a nod of approval.
Without pausing, she dashed back into the fray, her sword ready to claim more lives.
“Only seven of them left now,” Yun Wenshan muttered, counting the remaining rogue cultivators
on the battlefield.
“Keep pushing!”
Yun Wenlong, clutching his spiritual longbow, felt the adrenaline coursing through him. This was
his first taste of such a brutal battle, and he quickly realized that hesitation could be fatal.
Grabbing a Bright Light Talisman handed to him by Yun Wenfeng, he nocked a spiritual arrow
onto his bowstring and drew it back.
“Wenyu, Wenrun! Fall back and shut your eyes!”
His urgent command rang out, and the two sisters immediately withdrew a safe distance, closing
their eyes while extending their divine senses to monitor the situation.
At the moment the sisters retreated, Yun Wenlong released the arrow.
The arrow soared through the air and detonated mid-flight. The Bright Light Talisman erupted in
an intense burst of light, as brilliant as the noonday sun.
Several rogue cultivators screamed in agony, clutching their eyes as the searing brightness
rendered them temporarily blind.
Yun Wenyu and Yun Wenrun seized the opportunity.
Without hesitation, the two sisters surged forward, their blade and sword weaving in perfect
harmony. In mere moments, they mercilessly dispatched the blinded rogue cultivators.
But three of the more cautious rogue cultivators had managed to avoid being affected by the
flash of light.
“These kids are surprisingly capable,” one of the surviving cultivators muttered under his breath.
Yun Wenrun, her blade now dripping with blood, flicked it to clean off the crimson stains.
“Not bad for a bunch of so-called kids, huh?” she remarked with a sly grin, her gaze sweeping
over the corpses of the fallen enemies.
“They’ve been training hard,” Yun Wenyu replied, a faint smile gracing her face.
“Though they haven’t faced real cultivators in battle until now, they’ve been sparring under the
watchful eyes of Aunt Wenshuang, Uncle Yan Tian, and us in the family training grounds.
They’ve got some skill—and, more importantly, courage.”
She glanced at the others who were helping from within the barrier.
“They’re not just kids anymore. They’re real clan members, ready to defend their family when it
matters most.”
“True,” Yun Wenrun nodded in agreement. “That hulking brute made the mistake of
underestimating them and paid the price.”
“But we’re not done yet,” Yun Wenyu said, her expression growing serious. “There are still three
left. Let’s take them out quickly and go help Brother Wenxuan.”
“Right! He won’t last long against that old man on his own,” Yun Wenrun said with urgency,
immediately following her sister toward the remaining enemies.
The three surviving rogue cultivators noticed the sisters charging toward them.
“These two are trouble,” one of them muttered.
“Separately, they’re manageable. Together, they’re a nightmare,” another added, his voice
tense.
“One uses a sword, the other a blade. The combined power of their techniques is devastating,”
the third rogue cultivator said, fear creeping into his tone.
They began to retreat, knowing full well that facing the sisters head-on would likely result in their
deaths.
Both Yun Wenyu and Yun Wenrun were at the seventh level of the Embryo Breath Stage, and
their combined attacks were lethal enough to overpower even those at the peak of the seventh
level—or perhaps even the eighth.
“We can’t win this fight,” one of the rogue cultivators said, his voice trembling as he glanced
nervously at Yun Wenlong and the others.
“And those kids in the barrier—don’t underestimate them either. They’re crafty and have already
taken down one of us.
If they get another chance to distract us, it’ll leave us wide open for those sisters to strike.”
“Where the hell is Old Man Ming?” one of the retreating cultivators growled, his frustration
mounting.
“He’s supposed to be dealing with that brat Yun Wenxuan. How has he not finished him off yet?”
Their eyes flickered toward the duel happening on the far side of the training grounds, where the
hunched old man was locked in combat with Yun Wenxuan.
“At this rate, Yun Yan Tian and Baili Moxue might break free from their distractions and rush
over here!”
The thought of reinforcements arriving only heightened the rogue cultivators’ anxiety.
