Chapter 281 Working Together
Facing the hunched old man, Yun Wenxuan did not hold back. From the very start, he
unleashed his full power, executing the Hundred Battles Spear Technique.
The ferocious spear strike was ruthless and domineering, its momentum aimed directly at the
old man.
Seeing the intensity of Yun Wenxuan’s strike, the hunched old man couldn’t help but feel a tinge
of alarm. He quickly retreated, narrowly avoiding the spear’s devastating trajectory.
“Such an impressive spear technique for someone so young!”
“Save your breath!” Yun Wenxuan retorted coldly.
With a sweeping motion of his spear, he launched the second form of the Hundred Battles
Spear Technique.
The old man channeled his spiritual energy and summoned his Daoist arts to defend against the
onslaught. However, to his surprise, Yun Wenxuan’s second spear strike was even fiercer and
more precise than the first.
Despite his best efforts, the old man’s defensive techniques were shattered. The spear’s
momentum remained undiminished as it struck him, forcing him to stumble back dozens of
steps.
“That Yun Wenxuan kid is quite formidable!”
“Indeed! Despite being at the peak of the ninth level of the Embryo Breath Stage, he’s holding
his own against a Qi Refinement Stage cultivator!”
“It doesn’t matter. With Elder Ming handling him, Yun Wenxuan will eventually lose. No matter
how skilled his spear technique is, he’s still just in the Embryo Breath Stage. He won’t be able to
sustain such a technique for long.”
“Our focus should be on eliminating the Yun clan’s spiritual-rooted members in the training
ground!”
As Yun Wenxuan battled the old man, several rogue cultivators who had been hiding in the
shadows finally revealed themselves. They moved in unison, charging toward the Yun family’s
training ground with murderous intent.
“Runan!”
Sensing the impending attack, Yun Wenyu called out to her younger sister.
“I’m on it, Sister!”
Without hesitation, Yun Wenrun activated several Shield Light Talismans. A protective barrier of
light formed around Yun Wenlong, Yun Wenfeng, and the other spiritual-rooted members of the
family, shielding them from harm.
The rogue cultivators unleashed their Daoist techniques, but none of their attacks could
penetrate the barrier created by the Shield Light Talismans.
“Wenlong, Wenfeng, take care of your siblings and ensure their safety!” Yun Wenyu instructed
sternly.
With that, she dashed forward, her long sword gleaming in her hand. In a single, fluid motion,
she decapitated a rogue cultivator at the fifth level of the Embryo Breath Stage who had entered
the training ground.
On the other side, Yun Wenrun wielded her long blade with precision, fending off several rogue
cultivators who attacked her simultaneously.
Despite being outnumbered, the two sisters fought fiercely, showing no signs of being
overwhelmed.
“Those bastards dare invade our Yun clan? They’re courting death!”
Inside the barrier, Yun Wenyuan watched as his sisters fought against the rogue cultivators. His
face darkened with rage, and his expression twisted with frustration.
Without thinking, he prepared to charge out of the protective barrier to assist them.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
Yun Wenlong noticed his younger brother’s movement and immediately grabbed him by the
shoulder to stop him.
“I’m going to help Wenyu and Wenrun! Are we just going to sit here and watch them get
surrounded by those bastards?”
“Every single one of those rogue cultivators has a cultivation level higher than yours. Their
combat experience is also far beyond yours.
If you rush out there, you’ll only get in the way and distract Wenyu and Wenrun!”
Yun Wenlong understood his brother’s urgency, but he also knew that allowing him to rush into
danger would only worsen the situation.
Wenyu had entrusted him with the responsibility of protecting their siblings, and he wasn’t about
to let them get hurt.
“Remember, our priority is to ensure our own safety and not create additional burdens for
Wenyu and Wenrun.
As long as Uncle Yantian and Aunt Xue are informed of the situation, they’ll come to our aid
immediately!”
“He’s right, Big Brother Wenyuan! I think Wenlong is right. Our job is to stay safe and not make
things harder for them,” Yun Wenxin chimed in.
Though her face was pale from fear, she mustered her courage to tug on her older brother’s
sleeve, pleading with him to stay within the barrier.
“I understand! But staying here like a burden while Wenyu and Wenrun are out there fighting—it
doesn’t sit well with me!”
Yun Wenyuan clenched his fists tightly, his frustration evident. Though he calmed down slightly
after hearing his brother and sister’s reasoning, the helplessness still gnawed at him.
Watching his sisters, Wenyu and Wenrun, face the onslaught of twelve rogue cultivators, Yun
Wenyuan felt a deep sense of frustration and helplessness. Not being able to help them
weighed heavily on his heart.
“It’s not just you who feels this way. We all do!”
A Yun clan disciple stepped forward, placing a reassuring hand on Yun Wenyuan’s shoulder.
The speaker was Yun Wenshan, one of the clan’s collateral descendants.
“Why do you think we’ve worked so hard in our cultivation all this time? Why push ourselves so
much?
It’s so that we can protect the family and our kin.
If we stand here and watch Wenyu and Wenrun get surrounded without lifting a finger, then
what’s the point of cultivating?”
Yun Wenyuan clenched his fists in frustration, then turned to Yun Wenshan with a determined
look.
“Brother Wenshan, you’re the smartest among us. Do you have any ideas?”
“Among everyone here, the ones with slightly stronger cultivation are Brother Wenlong, Sister
Wenfeng, myself, you, Wenxin, and Wenli,” Yun Wenshan said after a moment of thought.
“Here’s the plan: Wenxin, Wenli, and Wenyuan, you three will handle the flow of the Shield Light
Talismans. Make sure the protective barrier doesn’t break, or the others could be in grave
danger.
As for me, Brother Wenlong, and Sister Wenfeng, we’ll use spiritual talismans and artifacts to
assist Wenyu and Wenrun from a distance.
Even if we can’t kill the enemies outright, we can at least disrupt their attacks and create
openings for our sisters to strike.”
Hearing Wenshan’s proposal, Yun Wenlong nodded decisively after a brief consideration.
“Let’s do as Wenshan says!”
“I’ve got three second-tier Fireball Talismans, two Ice Arrow Talismans, and a spiritual longbow,”
Wenshan said, taking items out of his storage pouch.
“I have three Thorn Talismans and two Bright Light Talismans,” added Yun Wenfeng as she
retrieved her own talismans.
“I have Fireball Talismans, Ice Arrow Talismans, and Thorn Talismans as well,” said Yun
Wenlong.
“Brother Wenlong, we’ve got some too!”
Yun Wenyuan, Yun Wenxin, and Yun Wenli quickly produced their own spiritual talismans from
their storage pouches and handed them over to the trio.
The other disciples followed suit, contributing whatever talismans they had.
Everyone understood that teamwork was their best chance of survival—and protecting their
family.
“Good! Let’s show these intruders that the Yun clan isn’t full of cowards.
If they think they can kill us easily, they’ve got another thing coming. Let’s make them pay for
underestimating us!”
With his spirits lifted by the unity of his siblings, Yun Wenlong readied himself alongside Yun
Wenshan and Yun Wenfeng.
Meanwhile, Yun Wenyuan, Yun Wenxin, and Yun Wenli stayed within the protective barrier,
vigilantly monitoring the Shield Light Talismans and preparing to reinforce the barrier if needed.
The group’s determination shone brightly as they gripped their talismans tightly, ready to defend
their family at all costs.
Outside the barrier, a burly middle-aged rogue cultivator, wielding immense strength, had just
been forced back by one of Yun Wenyu’s strikes.
His eyes darted toward the barrier protecting the younger Yun clan members.
“You take care of these two sisters. I’ll break that shield and deal with the rest of those
spiritual-rooted brats!” he barked to his allies before charging toward the barrier.
Wenyu and Wenrun noticed his movement immediately.
“Someone’s going after them!”
Their hearts sank as they watched the burly rogue cultivator head straight for the barrier. They
tried to intercept him, but the other rogue cultivators blocked their path, keeping them pinned
down.
“An enemy is coming our way!”
“He’s at the sixth level of the Embryo Breath Stage—only slightly stronger than me,” Yun
Wenlong said, his expression serious as the rogue cultivator closed the distance.
“The Shield Light Talismans set up by Wenrun can withstand attacks from someone at the
seventh level of the Embryo Breath Stage. For now, we should be safe,” Yun Wenshan
reassured.
“Still, we can’t afford to be careless. He might have powerful talismans or artifacts that could
destroy the barrier,” Yun Wenfeng cautioned.
“True. But with Wenyuan, Wenxin, and Wenli keeping an eye on the barrier, we should be fine,”
Yun Wenlong said before turning to Wenshan.
“Pass me the spiritual longbow.”
As they spoke, the burly rogue cultivator reached the barrier.
His fists, glowing with a mysterious Daoist technique, slammed into the barrier with the force of
a sledgehammer.
Boom!
The impact caused the barrier to ripple violently, cracks spreading across its surface like a
spiderweb.
